From the emergency room
I spent a decade in emergency medicine and served as Medical Director at Southside Medical Center. It gave me a close view of where healthcare technology fails care teams.
The throughline
Every chapter started close to a patient or clinician and moved outward—from one workflow to systems used at scale.

In 2014, I founded iScribes to reduce the clinical-documentation burden I felt firsthand. We built ambient AI that generated the medical note from the clinical conversation, and Nuance Communications acquired the company.
At Nuance and then Microsoft, I led ambient clinical intelligence products at industry scale. That chapter showed me what becomes possible when advanced AI is paired with deep workflow understanding—and how much work remains.
In 2023, I co-founded Bionic Health to move medicine from reactive to proactive. We built a generative AI and predictive analytics platform for personalized preventive care. Thrive Life Holdings acquired Bionic in 2025.
After the acquisition, I served as CEO of ThriveBetter, leading the nationwide expansion of proactive healthcare and longevity programs across diagnostics, therapeutics, and ongoing care.
Today, I'm Senior Vice President of Product at Optum Insight, leading Optum Real. The work is organized around two questions: how do we help every patient know the next right thing to do, and how do we equip every physician to practice at their best?
“Give patients clear next steps.Give clinicians better tools.”
02 / What I build around
The strongest healthcare products connect clinical judgment, intelligent systems, useful data, and an experience people can actually act on.
Ambient intelligence, generative AI, and products that earn a place inside clinical workflows.
Care models that turn biomarkers, behavior, and risk into clear actions before disease progresses.
Automation that reduces administrative work while improving quality, consistency, and scale.
Connected data products that make complex health information useful to patients and care teams.
03 / Keep in touch
New products, healthcare ideas, and opportunities to build with the team.
I share what we learn, what we ship, and what I believe healthcare technology needs to do next.
